This evening Ms. Stanton introduced me to a most forthright young woman named Susan. O, Miss Anthony is surely the embodiment of America! Her commitment to freedom and justice is only rivaled by her joy in its pursuit. She is a staunch supporter of such various causes as abolition, suffrage, and my own pet cause, temperance. Though she has joined the battle in many arenas, never has she forgotten that it is the plight of woman which drives her.
To be so young, but so influential! It is her passion for the equal treatment of the sexes which ensures her success. Equality in the work place, equality at the polls, it is for these that she fights with a will that cannot be denied. I believe that, should the occasion arise, Miss Anthony would seek imprisonment over payment of a fine to draw attention to her cause. It is the American dream that all people, regardless of race or sex, share the same freedoms, opportunities, and happiness.
